I have a general question about the Marcin Slysz designed Spydercos. Is it common for the floating stop pin to rattle?

My Spyderco Techno had a stop pin rattle when the blade was partially open. This rattle did not happen when fully closed or fully open.

I also applied blue lock tire in the stop pin hole in the scale which stopped it completely.

Is this an issue? Is this normal?

Also wondering if the Spydiechef, Bowie and Techno 2 displays this problem so anyone can chime in. I’d appreciate it.

No issues with my Spydiechef, the only rattling is the known issue with the lanyard tube and that's only if I really shake it hard. No issues with my Techno 1 either.

The only thing that rattles in my Chef is the lanyard tube. Are you sure that's not what you are hearing?

Another question is if you’ve disassembled the knife and cleaned it thoroughly. After I cleaned my Techno thoroughly including the holes where the stop pin goes into, it started to rattle. It didn’t rattle before then.

I’m not asking people to disassemble their knives, but if you already have, this is an answer I’m looking for.

My Spydiechef is free of rattles. I've not heard of a stop pin rattling on any of them before.

I have not disassembled my Spydiechef yet.

I was about to say no rattles, but I double checked just now. Indeed there’s a tiny rattle from the lanyard tube. I have no idea if it was there prior to deep cleaning.

I love the Spydiechef!
