Yesterday my 8 year old son Marc and I were at the Dutch Knife Exhibition. There was an opportunity to forge a blade with a coal forge. Marc wanted to do this really badly and after some safety precautions he went at it for over an hour. You can see him hammering away in this short video I took with my cell phone.

Marc also hardened the blade and the smith grinded the blade and sharpened the edge and this is the endresult.

Marc is as proud as a peacock (as am I) and he now wants to do some filework on the blade and make a handle for it as well. If that succeeds I will show some pics as well.

That's spectacular Marcel.
Marc is off to a great start and it's so good to see young people
so interested in custom knives.
