I'll let Marcus discuss, and just start the post with a finished picture, the handle material is Stabilized CA Buckeye burl that I picked up at the OKCA Show in Eugene, OR:

I'm real happy with this piece, and it represents an excellent value, enroute to Mr. Paul Long for his excellent sheathwork.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Nice snag, STeven !
Looks great !
Two questions if you would be so kind,
tapered tang as I can't tell from the pic
and Loveless style sheath or something special from Paul ?

Doug,

Well tapered tang, also drilled out and lightened under the scales....look at the cleanliness:

The sheath will be the same as the last ones that I got from Paul Long for the Buchanan Dixon and the Bump Chute.

Very nice! Been looking forward to seeing this one.

I think maybe flatgrinder is going to have to change his nickname? :D

Very nice, STeven. Youseem to be building a rather nice collection of things on a Loveless theme.

Very nice, STeven. You seem to be building a rather nice collection of things on a Loveless theme.

There are more makers aptly working in the style with available knives recently..

-S.R. Johnson doesn't take orders anymore, so you have to get lucky at a show, or pay a stiff surcharge.

-Lovett got eminent domained and has fallen off the grid the last couple years

-John Young is in the same boat as S.R. Johnson.

I'm interested in makers who are interested in getting it as close as possible....not makers "interpreting" Loveless....makers who EMULATE Loveless...Lovett was doing a good job at that, Thad Buchanan is doing a good job, Bruce Bump is doing a good job, Charles Vestal is coming along nicely and for a new maker, Marcus is doing an exceptional job, and he is responsive to feedback.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Steven, Lin's Wilderness is indeed a beauty!

Wouldn't a Loveless design inspired Integral by Edmund Davidson
also fit nicely in this collection of yours?

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

STeven, don't want to highjack the thread, But I would like to put my 5 cents worth in! I know what you mean when you say Marcus's knives are excellent value. I also have a Wilderness knife, Chute knife and Drop point and hopefully in the next week or two a Big bear all from the hands of Marcus, I have to say the grinds and fit are second to none and cannot speak too highly of his work. See pics.

Very nice.
I recently ordered a drop point from Marcus. In fact it will be the first handmade knife I've ever owned.
I'm like a 4 year old on Christmas eve at the moment:D
