How to justify settling for a Dagger and a fancy package combo?
Not having owned either I do not have a sense of build quality and
Easy comparison. Your thoughts?

That said is the Marfione socom Elite clip point or tanto style
Blade most desirable by collectors?

High end tactical knives have always seemed like an odd segment to me. Seems counter-intuitive. Like a Rolls Royce made sandrail...

I was always a big fan of the production Socom, it's a fine knife. Pity about the company's patriarch.

I guess, gun to my head, I'd buy the production Socom because it is a great knife and I wouldn't think twice about using it, but these days I'm spoiled for choice and choose to spend my money elsewhere.

I’ve spent money on custom versions of production knives before...... complete waste of money unless your after pocket jewelry. Get the production. I’m waiting for the new re-release

I had a production Socom Delta G10 for a min there. SUPER nice knife, but I sold it because I prefer other knives.

It all comes down to whether you want a basic bare-bones production version with a machine/flat-ground blade and a working finish or a hand/hollow-ground and finished collector's piece. I have several of both, and aside from the above, the build quality is generally the same.

If you do spring for the fancy custom blade grind, I recommend going whole-hog with either a mirror or hand-rubbed satin finish. Seems a waste to pay for Marfione's hand grind only to compromise the aesthetics with a cost and labor saving tumbled finish similar to what you'd see on an entry-level production version.

As far as the blade style goes, just go with what you like best. Trying to anticipate the tastes of other collectors is a kind of a pointless exercise.

Having owned (and made) both these knives my advice is to get the production version if you plan to carry and use the knife. As said above there is no functional advantage to the hand ground.

If you want something to display and never use (or sell) get the mirror polished version. Tony does an amazing job on his polishing.

FYI if you carry and use the polished or satin version you will ruin the blade finish and kill the knifes value. Personally I don’t see the value in the polished hand ground versions because they are 99% the same knife as the production, even sharing the same components and blade blanks.

Any particular point between the Socom A,B,D and elite (which is Aluminum)?
I agree when blade finish enters the picture and I'm just a handler for play and fidgiting.
Don't mess with sharpeners, just like finding what's the good in my knives.

Rules here refrain on dollar value but of all the socoms and their varying versions
Would you say the elite's aluminum frame is responsible for where it lands in the
Value line up? What is the line up?
More commonly written opinions put Socoms or All ? higher end Microtechs being overpriced at retail.

At present I am juggling my next purchase between one of the Socoms or a custom
Tendick Kraiken for about the same money 700 ish.
So considering the secondary market around the Marfione Custom Socom
-Yeah what to do?

I don't think the Marfione customs are hot sellers in the secondary market, or even in the retail market. I've seen those Custom Socoms on sale for like 5 months for the same price at multiple outlets. It looks really nice, but I rather pay $300 for the production version. Their fit and finish is very good in my experience.
