Ok there are the Ka-Bar and the Camillus (hard to find) and Case. I saw a Case at cheaper than dirt. Are the Case any good, or should I stick with the other two?
The case marine knives aren't half bad, pros: they handle good, very sharp, like you said very cheap cons not the greatest choopers, did stains on the blade but they come off with soap and water, the one my friend has, its doubled edged at the tip
I used to own one before I gave it to my dad. It took a real sharp edge. The only real thing I didn't like about it was the handle could have been finished a little better, but that is something a person could do themself. I will definately buy another one or two or even three if I find some more. They are still a great knife to use. Go ahead and get it, you'll like it.
Between the Case and an Ontario knife, they both share a very close profile in detailing. Only that the Case product has more care put into it; and the Ontario being an actual government specified knife.
Note the way the leather handle has been ground close, right into the area where the circular metal disc pommel is mounted on a Case.

And you will find that the Ontario "Marine Combat" shares this same feature; the difference being that its leather parts have been done-up in black dye.

Which is totally different on a present day Ka-Bar USMC repro.
Having an oval profile (also a pakerized finish and bent guard) and IMHO a far superior leather handle at that.

The Case USMC may not have been an issued knife; but it sure is as fighting fit as any of the others mentioned. Even if it was meant to be a commemorative/display knife.
