This past Christmas I made this knife for my brother in-law who is a marine.

The blade is just under 11" with a ball mill fuller and some filework on the spine. The hilt and pommel are mild steel with different finishes on them. The blade was polished to about a 600 grit then sand blasted and hand scotchbrited then I gave it a quick etch to remove any shine.

I made this in a hurry on the 23rd so I didnt have enough time to do a stacked leather handle so we just turned one out of hickory and added the grooves in the handle that give it that marine look.

I made this fast and it wasn't my best work but it was neat enough to share.

Looks good, nice looking blade. :)

Larger than I would have wanted to carry when I was in the USMC, but it's very nice. :D

That was kind of the point. Doubt he will carry this in the field but at least he has one of bigger knives like this out there. I knew he had a few kabars so I wanted to make him one that stood out.

It's is really a sweet looking blade.

When I was in back in the early 80's I carried a variety of different knives and found the 7" range to be the most practical. That's pretty much the longest blade length that won't get in the way with enough blade to do what would have to be done.

I did strap a matchete to my pack when I thought I would need one though depending on where I was going.

I like the design a lot. I've been trying to come up with a style of blade for my dad to use when making a knife for me. Something like this really hits the spot. Thanks for posting it, and great work!

BTW, I checked out your website: terrific stuff!!
