Hey all,
I have a friend in the Marines and while he was in Iraq, he and some other fellow Marines were given these Benchmade Presidio's and I was wondering what you guys know about this knife, like how many were made, if its limited, if its no big deal, and what that little symbol is next to 154CM.

Thanks all,

thats BK which stands for Black coated...or atleast thats what i think it stands for. i dont know how limited they are but i doubt they are terribly limited.

hope that helped.

the knife itself is not limited.

what makes it special is the eagle/globe/anchor, the nsn, and the fact that it was issued to him.

pretty darn cool!

The NSN certainly has grown. Find a Supervisor that will sign and take it up the chain and you can have just about anything with an NSN.

just curious, but what rank could provide a sufficient signature to authorize an nsn?

Usually your supervisor takes requests up, and more often they make the requests for you. My old chain was NCO or maintenance coordinator, to division, to department head, to xo or captain. With certain stock considered consumable for a department and easy to get ordered at low ranks, while higher cost or odd classified stock requiring higher authority.

I am guessing that a combat unit maybe platoon level, would have free reign to order this stuff if the OIC doesn't mind the order. It would be as simple as putting the NSN on the order.

I can tell you that it's a tank of a knife. I have a regular (civilian) version and it's a beast. Nice and solid and I really like the axis lock as an auto.

Thanks for the info, but I'm still itching to know what that symbol is beside 154CM. I've never seen it before on BM.
