Mariner Drying Vent Question

I just purchased an older Mariner, non-chamfered handles, says Mariner on the blade,
This Knife has no drying vents at all, I thought that the drying vent was a standard feature of the Mariner right from the begining. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi Recoil. You have a really old model.

The drying vent was added when we put on the chamfers, probably about '85 or '86.

Man, I had one of those that was NIB and sold it to a forumite. I got it on Ebay for around $50. I wish I had kept that one.
