So, I ran a contest. And, it did not garner the entries I had hoped....

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=705532

But, what entries were made, were quality ones...

Video Entry....

Ok, let me preface my entry with this:
Sorry about the visual aids, I can't afford paracord right now and I didn't have a knife with a suitable sheath. Cardboard was the best I could do so I hope you can see past the chintziness of my little demonstration. For some reason, I was nervous as heck and felt I made myself look like an ass on youtube so please don't laugh at me. Before you ask, my knuckles say 'Hard Luck' and 'ACAB' (which stands for 'Always Courageous And Brave' and not 'All Cops Are Bastards' or "Always Carry A Bible'). I get that all the time so I figured I'd put it out there. Without further ado:

I've always been a fan of feudal Japanese culture and ingenuity. Some of the most elegant inventions for day-to-day problems were also the simplest. One of these inventions was the Tasuke which basically amounted to a narrow strand of cloth used to tie billowing kimono sleeves back when those of the samurai class were performing a task that required their arms to be free of dangling fabric. In the video, I mention that they did this before battle but really it was done before anything ranging from writing poetry to going to the bathroom. The Tasuke was held lightly in the teeth and deftly wrapped around one's shoulders and tied tightly to one side of the chest. It sounds simple but is actually pretty neat to watch when performed by someone who's adept. I thought it would also be a really cool way to set up an instant shoulder rig with the paracord one might have wrapped around a concealex or kydex sheath. Some of the benefits are that the tasuke-rig is simple, is easily put on in seconds, can be put on while running, stores wrapped around the sheath, and is easy to adjust once it's on. In the video, I demonstrate (clumsily) the way I would set up a tasuke-style shoulder rig on a sheath. Ayway, I hope it gives you guys some ideas.

You worked so hard to get this going I decided I would share my "boot knife" with you...I'm sure it would work even better with one of your sheaths.

Sorry, the outlet for the striped para-cord is proprietary....

Alright, in addition to the dangerous "boot knife" there is always the favorite "hat knife" if you are not prone to bumping your head into things............:D:D

Here is the first, and older one.
An Idea I had for using my ka-bar and a small kit, but on a harness.

I don't have any of the knives in question, but for the sake of spreading some ideas around here's the rig I use for my TOPS Shango. Carried inverted under the arm in a paracord harness with a unique cord retention mechanism. Flip the loop over the underside of the sheath and pull down on the knotted end of the cord to cinch the retention cord tight. To release it, pull up on on the ring. If you try pulling either in the opposite direction it actually tightens it instead of loosening.

Knifemaker / Mod Entry...

Okay, here's my entry. It is to adapt the knife for belt carry.

Punched holes in the leather strip to line up with the holes in the sheath:

Cut four lengths of what would ideally be black parachord:

Looped through and tied off:

On the Belt:

And the results...

Hooray!

Whatever Frosts/Mora this is...is the one.

A cool new sheath instead of the old orange plastic one is going to make a certain kid very happy!

WOOT! Thanks buddy! I had honestly forgotten all about the contest. I've been busy with a new baby and working on very little sleep.
