i think it was that movie the outsiders.i remember i saw a knife that i had never seen before.i've collected knives for as long as i can remember.anyway, the next day i went to the library and checked out a knife book.it said the knife was a balisong,or butterfly knife.i went on the internet and ordered a cheap one for 8 bucks.i was not impressed.

about 3 mounths later a friend and i were lighting off illegal cherry bombs and he pulled out a green rostfrie.i was in awe.turns out he bought it at a little knife, tool shop that was run by 40 year old bikers who probably did some under the table stuff too.i went and bought a green rostfrei too.around 2 moths later i lent it to another friend who took it to school and got caught with it.my knife was confinscated by the police.

on the 5th,however,i ordered a red, green, and blue rostfrei.when they get here i will have 5 balis (evil laugh)HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't remember seeing a bali in the movie 'The Outsiders,' but I do remember a switchblade (stiletto) that Johnny carried. Good movie... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! (silence) Sorry

I believe the 'Outsiders' are movie on gangs with that "Karate Kid" (jeez, I can't recall his name) as one of them.

I didn't watch them but remembered my high school friends (1985 was the year, I just got the first Korean 420 Kamikaze bali with me and my friend got it also) talking about how an opposing gang broke a bottle that got responed by 'the' gang with vertical up double flip of his balisong.

anyone recall the scene?

I believe that was a switchblade.

Doubt is an uncomfortable condition,
but certainty is a ridiculous one.

If I remember correctly the scene from the outsiders that had the balisong in it was, when the Emilio Estevez (the character with the mickey mouse t-shirt) was walking back with Johnny(ralph karate kid) and Pony boy (C. Thomas Howell)...they were coming back from the drive in? Anyway, the clean cut kids said something to the greasers and the Emilio Estevez character broke his "soda" bottle on the chain link fence and produced a balisong.....not sure if this answers the question, but I do remember seeing the balisong in the movie. Just my two cents.

the movie had both a switchblade and a bali. The scene with the bali is where they break the bottle and pull out a bali, the other scene where Johnny had the switchblade was when he killed the one guy from the other gang(we did a report on this movie/book in school just 2 weeks ago)

The switchblade was a shotshell puller lever lock, and the bali was a jag. The bali showed up twice in the film, when the bottle was broken and when they were in the hospital.

the movie was made in 85 or so.the guy named 2 bit bulled out his bali twice, but it was to fast for positive idenification.it looks like one of those designer grip balisongs that johnr7 has on his site.and the switchblade wasen't really a switchblade,it was an italian leverlock.i did my homework.
