So, let's see, you have your wallets, credit cards and check books ready?

(Pictures are taken from their respective sources in posts about these knives.)

Isn't this GREAT!!!

Look at what we have here...

The Unknown Balisong. Steel handles, different Skel pattern than Benchmade's. Reversible/Removeable Latch. Beautiful. A Batangas, no, it's a Manila! No, it's Latchless... Thick and heavy, ricochet-knuckle buster...

The Advanced Tech Balisong. Whew...FIVE INCH BLADE. I'm weary of the Aluminum [still] but, it sure looks BIG & FAST.

AND...a Brass Model is due out in June from the same source.

Options, I LIKE options...

And...perhaps the most exciting of all...

The Microtech Balisong Knife...looking at MT Knives, it is pretty easy to see this is going to be a tough, precision instrument with which to flip and twirl...and...a Nemesis Double Edged Blade might be looming on the Horizon...

And this is not counting the other "Secret Manufacturer" that Chuck Gollnick said had, "definite plans" for a Balisong.

And this is above and beyond what Benchmade might come out with over the summer...so, it's easy to see how serious Manipulators will be increasing knife collections by at least a half dozen pieces before Christmas.

The Summer of The Butterfly...you have not seen this much activity in 15 years...and considering last time around it was alot of Valor and Taylor/Seto competing with Pacific Cutlery, this promises to be the last time we will see it in our lifetimes...

Better save your money.

And don't forget BM's new powder-coated handles. As I say, Bladeshow 2001 is going to be BalisongShow 2001!

And let's not forget the immergence of Dobruski customs. Yes, I know there's a teeny customs problem. However, I live in Az where it's legal to carry a bali, I believe Mexico does not prohibit import of bali's, I have a friend with a house in a Mexican border town, Az borders Mexico...

Chuck,

There are rumblings that the new blade styles for the 42 are coming out soon as well. Which to me personally is alot more exciting than the powder coat!

I would really like to see them do a steel handled version of the 42. The handles are different so it would be a whole new knife basically. The feel of it would be different, and would be different from the 44, 45 and 48.

Time will tell. I think with all of the Balisongs coming out, it would be in their best interest to do that.

This last month, and especially this last week, have been an exciting time. And we still have Atlanta coming!! Our wothwhile options have changed from the BM42 or a Custom, to so many it's hard to decide. But like I always say, If it's too hard to call, BUY 'EM ALL!!

Not to mention we finally have a club underway. It is truly a great time to be a bali-nut!

So, let's see, what will we have in the Fall of 2001? The possibilities;

1. Microtech Tachyon.
2. Microtech Tachyon w/Nemesis-style blade.
3. Benchmade Bowie blade on the 42.
4. Benchmade Tanto blade on the 42.
5. Unknown Benchmade.
6. Unknown Benchmade.
7. Unknown Balisong [I Spy].
8. Spyderco?
9. Maybe Advanced Tech will put out a Ti or steel Balisong.

As well as a continued thrust from Custom Makers in this arena.

Oh, Chuck Gollnick also said in the "I Spy" thread that another Manufacturer had "serious plans" for a Balisong...

Hey Don, don't forget that there was talk from Microtech about a mid-priced bali. A $50 sorta knife. Sweet news to the light-of-wallet.

I did not hear about that, they could do it if they farmed out casting of the handles, after all, Benchmade made the 44, 45 and 48s and they were all under $75.00 at GOOD Dealers.

But I would be weary of the quality.

MT better do something, they announced they will no longer sell to people in the State of Florida, even Law Enforcement and EMTs, there is no exemption in the Ballistic Knife Law and that is what is being misinterpreted.

So, the Balisong looks like the Savior of MT at the moment.

yeah, the thing about the mid-priced bali came from Mr. Turber himself, it was from an earlier post (obviously). BTW, why did you have 2 other "BM Bali-Songs" in the list besides the 43 and the 47?? Do you know a secret that will be revealed at the Atlanta Blade Show??

Nope, cannot make it this year. If I was going and BM had their Balisongs out early, I would have seen them early as I would have had an Exhibitor Pass and you would have probably already known for sure what the deal is. I'm going next year and I'm borrowing or buying a laptop. Alot of good it will do then, huh?

I have an idea that when the BM News Breaks, alot of people are going to be incredibly surprised. That is likely to happen later today.

Anyway, the Morning After is now at hand and we now know some of the new BMs that might be coming out...I say "might" because we are talking about BM after all.

And the Tachyon looks like a damned fine balisong in my opinion...

So now, we need to chase down the other rumors...
