The Christmas flood of print catalogs are showing in mail box every day. I saw an ad in one for Marjacq knives. A French make, similar to the opniel lock rings models. Cost is a little higher, more exotic wood handles with a little shaping. Some sort of stainless blade. I was curious if anyone has heard of these or had any experience with them?

i wouldn't bother, were i in your shoes.
opinel's have a carbon steel blade (although you can get em in stainless too, but why?), are cheaper, and as for the handle, well... you can shape them, sand them, stain/paint/refinish them, whatever, and if you screw up you've only lost about $15.
peace.
