Hi,

I have had some Sebenzas and still have. Love them! But I have never had a Reeve fixed blade. Now I want to buy one before they are gone.

My question: Which one is the strongest of Mark II Jereboam and Shadow I (both 9 inches)? It looks like the Shadow has a stronger tip. Which one would you prefere??

Thanks!

Spear points (Shadow family & Project I) are usually considered to have a stronger tip than clip points (Jereboam, Project II, and others).
I prefer the looks of the clip points - I have a variety of Chris Reeve's clips and spears - no 9 inchers though. If you are going to use the heck out of it - I think I would lean toward the Shadow.

Thank you for the answer sir! I will go with the Shadow then. One more question: I think that I have seen a smaller model with saw teeth on the back. Cannot find it now thought. What was the name of the model?

You are welcome.
The Aviator was a 4 inch clip point with saw teeth. Chris Reeve also made a 5.5 inch Aviator in very limited quantities too (50 iirc). Chris no longer makes the Aviator - sad, I really like mine.

But I found out that some dealers still sell the Aviator. What do you think about the saw? Does it work good on wood?

Not sure about the wood sawing...I have never tried. It does not look like it would be too effective....hey, if you have a Shadow I too - just chop the wood.

Some dealers do have the discontinued items...I found a Sable IV (also discontinued) the other day - very nice.
Buy them while you can.

I have both. The saw blade on the jereboam is thinner than the over blade thickness, so I am thinking it would be very effective. I have not used mine, so I can not confirm or deny, but from looking at it, thats what I see. They will both chop the same I am thinking. I would say if you can find a jereboam II for sale, GET IT, they have not been made for quite some time, it took me over 2 monthes to find one and it was $525 including shipping. For me, it was my CRK Holy Grain. I see the shadow I around and some places still have them new. Get the jereboam I if you can. They are both equal choppers and with it you have the sawteeth...........

You will be lucky (very lucky) to find a 9 inch Jereboam with a saw back - they were the Mark I, if I recall correctly??? Early model made thru the mid 1990's.
The Mark II did not have the saw back - this knife was made up until a few years ago. The Mark II should be a lot easier (relatively speaking) to find.

I edited my post, I think the jereboam I is the sawback version, and the jerebom II is the plain edge version. I have both of them as well. I dont care for the jereboam II as it is way too pointy for me. Its like a rambo knife, looks cool but thats it. I like the more blunt point of the jereboam I. Out of all of them, I like the spearpoint one piece line as the points are pretty much unbreakable. Just my preferece. In the end, if a jereboam 9" sawback can be found, BUY IT, they are going to be near impossible to find, if not already. Like I said, it took me over 2 monthes to find mine.
