Hi everyone, just received my new Mini X-Ray, and had a question about a marking on the blade. On the side of the blade that has "SOG" on it, to the right side of the "SOG" is a small engraved marking... looks like a blade with a line thru it, or a minus sign. Any ideas what that is or means? Thanks.

That is our new logo. We have adapted the logo to reflect an icon from SOG history. We took a Tigershark and had it shot at point blank range 17 times and it split bullets and did not damage the edge of the knife. Below is a photo composite of several frame showing bullets being split by the knife edge.

This high-speed composite photograph was taken at a millionth of a second and captures a .45 caliber bullet after being fired from point blank range. The blade shows up white where lead has been deposited after 17 shots. This is a testament to the durability of SOG edges. Nobody should ever try to split a bullet with a knife edge, but isn’t it nice to know that you could!

Steel vs. lead? That sounds like sure bet. Steel vs. lead and a copper jacket? Still sounds likely. Both metals are much softer than steel.

IIRC, that was the whole point of Buck Knives' railroad spike chopping logo. Better tempered steel can cut through even softer steel.

Splitting a lead bullet makes a great high speed photograph, though.
