$950 for used XM-18s?

Nothing special, not customs.
These secondary market prices are getting way out of hand.

the sale price doesn’t mean anything, the purchase price is the real value
It makes sense for a seller to start at the highest price, but at the end the real price is not such high
IMO depending of the model and rarity you can get an XM-18 3.5 in good condition in the 400-500$ range
I have recently sold a skinny version under $400
At the end it will really depend on the model

Is that on fleabay? The only way you would get close to that is a titanium scale but even then it should not be that much.

This is a dealer, not the Exchange on here. They rarely ever lower prices.

Nope, but it does have a Ti scale. I agree still way over.

Totally agree. Asking price, on most anything nowadays, is immaterial. The point the price matters is when money changes hands.

Again, this is not on an exchange in a forum. Its a retail site.
My experience is the asking price is what they are expecting to get. If you cannot pay it, they dont sell it to you.
Its straight up, double the price of a new XM and at a time where you will be hard pressed to find any elsewhere.
I was actually checking EU stock yesterday and was surprised at how many are available overseas.
So while I understand your logic I dont understand how it applies here.
If you're stating it as a 'value is worth what you're willing to pay' then I'd retort with a fool and his money are easily parted.

If it's the store I suspect it is, their consignment prices tend to be inflated for sure. I get the impression their target market isn't "price-savvy BF buyers," but man they do brisk business and they get tons of stock -- so I guess it's working for them.

Fair enough. They do turn over rapidly and I wouldn't expect them not to raise the price but at the point you double the new price of a used product is a bit much. IMO.

The best part about the scalper prices - someone will actually buy it 😂. Crazy what people will pay for certain knives
I'm expecting that, sucks for keeping prices out of the unobtainable category.

Unless there is something unique to the knife.
Just someone with an inflated idea of their items worth, or hoping to catch a sucker.
Deserves a quick notice before moving on

I’ve seen several of the new Eklipse Bowies for sale in the $550ish area, but from what I can see in pictures it looks like some of them were sharpened on a brick by a child :-( the 5 or so Hinderers I have bought new (or BNIB) are all good, maybe it’s just a bad reflection in the pics…? Idk but there’s a bunch on fleabay that don’t look like they should be selling above MSRP

Same reason a “fool” would buy a Rolex or a marked-up $400k Lambo. I’m sure they know a timex and a Corvette will do the same thing. People buy CRKs, Hinderers, etc because this is a hobby, yes a PM2 will cut better than most, and we know that.

I never paid more than $400-500 for any XM18 or XM24 that I've ever owned, including the XM18-3.5 that I still own.

Or a Timex at Rolex price

I have, but that was an era of very short supply and high demand. Eventually times changed and those that paid the inflated prices took a significant hit.

Right. Kind of like how a Mustang will go around a racetrack faster than a Rolls Royce, yet it’s cheaper. Weird, I know.
Edit: idk who’s getting $900 for an XM-18 btw, the MEFP 3V Eklipses have been sitting forever on eBay for that price. 🤷‍♂️
