So I received the latest edition of cheaper then dirt the other day. As I dropped it onto the kitchen counter, the knife section opened up. And what do I see? An izula! When I read the description of the knife, it says it is a becker eskabar neck knife. And that the design was influenced by the ESEE Uzula. Isn't it spelled Izula? Whats up with the wrong spelling of the name? Not everybody is as bad at spelling as I am. Right Jeff? Could this be a legal issue?

Let 'em keep it Uzula and don't tell anyone. It's better for us. ;)

Actually the spelling is accurate. The Uzula was ESEE's flagship entry into the world of Ulus. It was a great knife, but unfortunately it sailed like the Titanic. Millions got on board with it... and millions died. They made the classic mistake of making the handle itself a cutting edge; and we all know that Shon Rowen takes his cutting edges seriously. Thankfully with the help of president Nixon and the Secret Service the whole incident was covered up in what will forever be known as the poo-water incident.

Hope this was helpfull.

God bless,
Adam

EDIT: Also, there weren't enough life boats.

At least they spelled ESEE right :D

Designed with influences from the Becker Necker and the ESEE Uzula, the BK14 Becker Eskabar combines a small perfectly balanced frame with rock solid one-piece ...

After the ESEE/Lion Steel parting of ways CDT will probably be selling "Peak Izulas" for $294 each.

More like Expensive As Hell. I've yet to see anything for cheap.

I like the Ulu idea, though. Scrap the folders and make an ESEE Ulu.:p

I just checked my catalog from Cheaper Than Dirt, mine also has the same error. I didn't notice it because I was busy looking at retailers with good prices.

FFS. if I see you guys in a budK catolog (i see them at work, i don't get them) I swear to god I'm selling all my blades.

Some stuff is super cheap and then they rape you on shipping charges. The wanted me to pay almost $30 to ship a 4 lb blanket!!!

When I went to Alaska I picked up a nice Ulu made from an old saw blade with a bone handle. Bought a burl wood bowl to go with it. Excellent for making salsa.

The problem with large box retailers and catalog retailers is they force you down on your price for the "honor" of dealing with them. WalMart is this way. Once they have their hooks in they own you and control you and you basically lose everyone else if you're not careful. I have no problem with Free Market Capitalism, but I think it will be along, long time before you see us in a big retailer, unless it is on OUR terms.

U is one key left of I on a QWERTY keyboard. easy misteak to make!

both Izula and Uzula will light up the spell checker, if they even bother to run it.

CTD sends out a new catalog every month or two, and the odds that they'll ever catch on that this is a typo are slim... you may be seeing the same typo in a year or two, especially since whoever's working on the catalog is probably just some wage slave and not a knife or gun enthusiast.

"legal issue" seriously?

CTD is from Texas, right? Hell, everyone knows Texans can't spell

Well, it is decided. It was a simple spelling error.....still messed up. If they are going to sell a product, then they should at least spell it right....imho.

Hey man, where else other than gun shows is a man supposed to get a sword with a blade shaped like a lightning bolt and a sweet wizard figurine!?
