Marketing Idea for Busse and the HOGs

I just had an idea come to me, and thought I would send it out for a whirl.. All of us who now have our ASH1 HOG knives are obviously in a category of our own in the Busse market. "we spend too much $$ and do all those things that give us the classification of HOG" But here's the idea; in most of the Ganza's there are always knives which are highly prized that everyone wants and those that sometimes fall through the cracks of the Busse world. Instead of making all of those knives for the Ganza's and the KNob Creek shows, maybe on the 20th anniversary of Busse knives. All of us HOGS get a ONE TIME life time Order Per HOG of the 10 combat Grade Busse's we've ever wanted. Look at the Popularity of the Classics: the ASh1, the HOFSH, the FFBM, SNFO, etc.. instead of making a bunch of knives with some selling and some not, let the HOGS have the knives they want in one massive order. YES> it would be worth taking out a loan for! Marketing is about giving the customer what they want, we HOGS are obviously loyal to Busse in our time on the forums and with our wallets, let us have our hearts desire in Busse knives. Yes, I know the secondary market might be a little ticked with SNFO's and MOAFSH going out, but a True HOG is not in it to make money off his fellow trough members, they are in it because they LOVE THE INFI in their hands and using it to slice through the woodland! Oh well, Im' done with my rambling.. It just came to me one night at 0300, while laying in bed fondling my FBMLE thinking about what would be the 10 Busse's I would love to have, and thought it would be nice to pick up all ten with Black G10 Mags and OD Green Blades... I'm looking forward to my fellow HOGS thoughts on this. I am in the process of looking through all my collections of things I have accumulated over the last 44 years and coming to the conclusion that Busse's and well made combat firearms are what I enjoy most.(hopefully, I'll still be able to legally have the latter after this next election).. So long to many of my childhood collections to finance Busse's and DSA FALS

Great idea, but that would ruin the second market, and some of the excitement and anticipation. MOASH's and SH's would not have the same appreciation and value if there were a bunch being passed around through the market. Busses are semi-custom knives, and most knives such as Benchmades, Spydercos, would never catch such a large profit (for buyers) like Busses do. I say keep it the same, I dont want the Busse market to turn to crap.

I dunno....the last time I tried to get my bank to give me a loan for Busses the loan consultation guy I talked to just laughed at me, (he seemed to be giving me a fair hearing until he realized that Busses were knives and not some kind of car).

I think Busse should go back to offering 4 or 5 standard base models for a long period of time with the occasional Ganza here and there. I think the current thought pattern (although exciting at times) of marketing creates too much hype and alienates the average to new user!

Agreed, but... the latter may be exactly what's intended as a marketing strategy. It seems to work on me, at least. :D

You mean like less safe queens and more user class knives? I agree, more cheaper models for me to modify!

:D

I find myself in the odd position of agreeing with Bravado on this one...go figure. :D ;) Maybe going back to that way of selling we would see more users and less safe queens. :D

I know of at least one new would be Busse fan who has thrown in the towel after missing out on a few ganzzas and then seeing the market flooded with the blades he wanted at inflated prices. And he really really tried to jump on the bandwagon...

New would be fans are turned away when they see the HOGs snorting and snarrling and posting false GO threads and they just give up.

I mean I always get what I want but that's cause I got mad skills.... :D

Hey...where did this soap box box come from and why am I one it!!!???

.

If they did that Busse would be just another knife company, and there would be no reason to search out and collect their knives.

Also there are many loyal Busse followers that have built collections and part of that is investment. So why gut them so a few new guys can get what they want without doing some work?

You're giving Jerry marketing advice? :D :p

As for the new guys, it's not *that* much work to score a knife. You just have to pay attention and be quick with a mouse. We're not talking about heavy lifting here.

I say leave it the way it is. I was on pins and needles for 2 weeks until I found out I SCORED a SAR5 . Plus My wife about cut me with the SAR, she would kill me if took out a loan :D

I think most of the fun is hunting the knife you want most. Missing it for 2 years and then finally being able to afford it WHEN one comes up and being the first to say "I'LL TAKE IT"!!!!

I like the idea and it would be great to get some that I have wanted, but I like the current system more....much more. The Marketing is not broke and doesn't need fixing to modifications, or tweaking, except maybe LESS Ganzas (give my bank account time to recoup):D

Maybe, but is it really necessary for every knife that comes down the trough?
I mean take the SAR for example, there were a lot of guys who wanted one of an affordable Busse but missed out! Even some of the actual SAR guys! I especially feel for you guys!:(
