The "Buck 110's for $23.00" thread was a popular read (4,973 views). I wonder if the Wal-Mart "America's Original, Buck Model 110 Commemorative Set" was a successful venture for Wal-Mart and or Buck? They went pretty fast here at my local Wal-Mart. I'd be curious who thought this one up. Wish I could think of a cool idea like that. Hmmm...what would I suggest to beat this one?

It had to be set up way in advance...like a year or more...the sheaths, bottle openers, & tins from China; the Buck knive & cellophane from El Cajon... :D

And shipping to WallyWorld HQ...distribution to all the little [and big] WallyWorlds...shelf stocking...erecting those cardboard stands...

Lots of planning went into this...Whoever thought it up should get a big bonus...I'm serious, this has been a big success... :)

These things will be on eBay for years... :D

Here's some ideas. (The 1st one was already suggested in another thread.)

1. Begin a series of date stamps portraying the other 49 states, not just Idaho. (problem: Colorado and Wyoming aren't very exciting. :o )

2. Include a coupon with each 110 purchase for a blade swap discount or discount for another Buck model.

3. Bring back a special run of 110's in retro style with the squared edge bolsters and scales.

4. Produce a Buck video with intro by CJ Buck which tells the history of the company and illustrates the 110 manufacturing process.

Matt,
This is a great thread. I particularly like your third and fourth suggestions. I would add another suggestion of my own for Buck to put out a "series" that included the 110, 112, 500 and perhaps the 532 with unique steel, scales and bolsters. The idea of a marched set really intrigues me. ;)
