Here are the pics for marking ID. I just want to thank everyone again for all the help, this is by far the most positive forum experience I could ask for. Thanks for answering all my questions

Aaron

The Gopte was from 1st day of christmas and auntie said it was by dhan I just don't know what symbol is what.
The M43 was purchased off the HI site and same thing not sure on the makers or symbols
The cak was from the 19th day christmas and said 14.5 inch 27 Chiurwa Ang Khola by Ram Lal

I know the UB is for uncle bill but I don't know which marks are the kamis and which for the store.

I would love to be able to put a face to these blades, and know who we are supporting.

Thanks
Aaron

Hi,
For the M43, the script says "Ku" and "Ma" above the star symbol, which likely means Kumar. The CAK says "Ra" and "Lo", which likely means Ram Lal - the symbol appears to be either a betel leaf or the tip of a thrusting spear. On the Gopte, all I see is dots, I am an unable to connect them to read the letters.

Hope this helps.

More info about Ram Lal

Those knives arrived here in recent shipment from Nepal. My father check those Knives made by Ram Lal and said he is a talented Kami!
His trade mark is Peepal's leaf. In Nepal and India the Peepal tree is a religious tree and every Saturday People will worship under the Pieepall tree with fruit and other offerings...

Thats perfect i appreciate that. The dots are hard to read unfortunately im not sure how to describe them.

Do you know what the symbols under thw ub are ? Thanks again

Thanks for the insight Steve. I was wondering what the leaf was - it had the veins of one, so wasn't sure. It is very similar to a thrusting spear called the "Vel" in south india, whose tip also has the same shape and sometimes the veins. Never knew it was peepal leaf.

The symbols under the UB are "Hi" (pronounced with a short I, just like the first two letters of Himalayan) and "Ee". I believe it stands for Himalayan Imports.

...I know the UB is for uncle bill but I don't know which marks are the kamis and which for the store.

This marking from Kumar shows the "star" (a circle with rays) designating Himalayan Imports,
Kumar's symbol (a six-pointed star),
and two "letters" of script that write out Kumar's name (as far as I know).

Below is some more information from this thread, with more photos of the "Star mark designating Himalayan Imports".

Anyway, looking through the stickies, I found this information from 2008:

There are four Devngari and one English marks on all of HI Khukuris and Swords.

I Knife maker's intinital.

2 Knife maker's personal sign. Each Knife maker has different sign.

3 Star is a mark designating Himalayan Imports Knife makers.
[Note: see photos below]

4 UB designates Uncle Bill. When Uncle Bill last visited with the Kami's he asked them to mark all the Knives with UB after he passed on.

5 HI logo is for Himalayan imports company.

When Yangdu wrote "Star is a mark designating Himalayan Imports", I think she is referring to the circle with the lines radiating from it (like a simplified state flag for New Mexico), as pictured in the examples below:

Here are a few pictures I have of mine at the moment.

SGT does not have a mark and does not work for HI, sometimes HI buys his kukris to sell.

Steve, thanks again. I saw this stickie before ill admit was was a bit confused as some look similar yet not quite and the dhan gopte had no reference i could see since it was made with what looks like a electro stylus. The star of david vs the hi star had me confused thanks for helping to clear this up.

Star of David is definitely Kumar, and the Gopte is indeed Dahn (symbol is an eye, you can see it closest to the bolster, perpendicular to the blade). I have not seen Ram Lal's marking in picture or in person, but I do agree that the CAK is by him.

Awesome info i see the eye did not know thats what it was but now it looks just like it. His other marks are hard to describe i should try to draw them out but that might be worse. Lol

Dhan Kami's trade mark is eye
