What can you guys tell me about the markings on my Chiruwa Ang Khola? Also... how do I pronounce Chiruwa Ang Khola? Thanks!

I believe the Nepali Flag is Vim kami. But don't quote me on that yet. Might be a new Kami using that mark now. I know I've seen it often.

The UB on the opposite side is a remembrance to Uncle Bill. All HI knives made since his passing have the UB marking.
My memory is often times weak. I think that was mid 2000's like 2004 or 5 but I'd have to double check that too.

The easy way to pronounce Chiruwa Ang Khola is "CAK," which is often used as a shorthand.

The long way is Cheer-oo-wa Ang Cola (as in Coca Cola). The regular Ang Khola is the same blade with a different handle type.

Some people use "full tang" to describe the CAK, meaning that the handle is visible at the top and bottom edges of the handle and has slabs held on by laha (a natural Himalayan epoxy) and pins.

The regular Ang Khola is also full tang in another way, as the tang goes all the way through the handle and is peened over at the butt end. Both types of handle are very secure. Some prefer one type, some prefer the other type.

Under the U.B. is the Devanagari script for the letters H and I (for Himalayan Imports).

Above the Nepal flag (symbol of the kami who made the blade, Anil, as mentioned previously) is usually an abbreviated form of the kami's name, or his initials (in Devanagari script). Looks like A and L (for Anil Lal?). Anil is the son of Kesar Lal.

Thank you so much everyone! It's nice to own something so special, beautifully handmade with all it's little imperfections. Knowing what the markings mean makes it that much more special to me.

This is Keshar Lal's son Anil's mark

You are right about that Bawanna. The Vim mark has the flag pole running the length of the knife and anils mark is 90º from that. That one gets me every time. I think I got it now. Maybe?
