john, I was wondering if you can make a Marlin Spike with a knife type handle and sheath?

You mean this, Pit?

I'd love to have handles and a kydex sheath for this setup.

Something like the one in the picture but I was thinking of just the spike in place of the cutting edge, about a 3 inch spike with a three inch or 3 1/2 inch handle. That is a nice setup too.

Great idea. I use my marlin spikes a lot. One with a comfortable handle would be wonderful.

They sure are handy. Will it have to be out of stainless?

I don't think it will need to be stainless. I have to decide if I want to go with a knife and spike or just a spike. Maybe we can add the spike as a accessory with the Nov. warcliff. Add it to the sheath somewhat like a fire steel loop but have a little bigger handle that a firesteel.?

Speaking of November wharncliffs, guess what I heat treated this morning? ;)

GOOD DEAL. Look at that picture above. That would be a good spike. It could start out about the size of a 20 common nail and taper down to a semi sharp point. I like the curve of that one too. Maybe a loop or two on the sheath and a matching handle? Maybe it is not doable. The handle on that one in the picture might work but it might be hard to hold onto and of course If i dropped it, it would be in a lake.

BTW. I might have to have you hold shipping until I get back from deer season. I am leaving about the 16th and the wife has about two weeks off. I can still send the payment as usual.

Anything is doable  Email me the diameter, length, and handle length you want.

Emphasize the semi sharp point. I have used them with fairly sharp points and they can really be painful when trying to get a knot undone and it slips!

I really like spikes the have two flat edged ground into the round tip... think flathead scredriver, but not so flat... just a little.

What size stock are you thinking about using John?

I have no idea, udtjim never replied to me.

Sorry guys. I had to go for a lazer treatment on my eye yesterday so I kind lost track of things. Things are still a little blurry today but better.

I would think that maybe a piece of 3/16 would be thick enough at the base end. I like the looks of the one pictured above but I don't know what the measurements are.. where it comes out of the handle, Maybe 5/8 tall then tapering down to semi sharp in about 3 1/2 inches probably 6 1/2 inches OAL . Need more info?

So the handle would be about 2" long?

Here is a better pick of my Myerchin spike.

It is roughly 1/8 inch at the tip. If it had a handle similar to my EWOK's size, it would be a perfect tool.

Better make it about three inches on the handle. I took this picture of my folder that might help. I think that three inches is enough for the spike. This one is three inches to where it folds out. The Spike itself it 3/8 or a hair over at it's widest point. Folded all the way open, the OAL of the knife is 7 1/2 long.

This one has a 3 inch sheeps foot blade. This is a Rough Rider and is darn good quality for the money. When your hands are cold though it can be a pain in the butt to open.
