Martial Blade Camp 2005 will be held 26-29 August 2005 at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. This annual event is designed to provide MBC alumni and first-time participants with the opportunity to learn and refine the core skills of Michael Janichs Martial Blade Concepts (MBC) and Counter-Blade Concepts (CBC) systems, as well as to explore other skills outside the realm of the formal MBC curriculum.
Attracting participants from all over the United States, this event includes three full days of training in MBC Level 1-4 drills and skills, instruction in CBC, and specialized instruction in other selected empty-hand and weapon-based topics. The specialized instruction at this years camp will focus on the integration of empty-hand and knife technique, mixed-weapon tactics (knife vs. other weapons), universal weapon defense/disarm tactics, and the combative use of the machete/barong.
Martial Blade Camp is conducted at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. Located 65 miles northwest of Denver and adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park, it is one of the premier conference centers in the Western U.S. Accommodations for the camp are located at the Wind River Lodge, one of the YMCA's newer lodges that features two queen-sized beds, a full private bath and a balcony or patio with each room. In addition to full participation in all Martial Blade Camp training, camp participants will receive three all-you-can-eat meals per day and have free access to the YMCA's many other activities, including: hiking, fishing, tennis, volleyball, basketball, softball, weight training, and indoor swimming. Additional activities including golf, mountain biking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, and rock climbing are also available for additional fees.
The price for the 2005 Martial Blade Camp is $800 per person for double-occupancy lodging or $1,000 per person for single-occupancy lodging. This price includes full participation in all training, lodging, meals, and access to all YMCA activities. All camp participants will also receive a souvenir package valued at more than $350 that includes a commemorative knife, a second high quality weapon (previous camps have included ASP batons and Cold Steel City Stick canes) and an embroidered souvenir polo shirt. Thanks to generous contributions from camp sponsors, camp participants also walk away with a total of more than $1,500 in door prizes during the event.
If you would like to make your training experience a vacation for you and your family, it is also possible to share the Wind River lodging with your spouse or significant other or apply the value of your lodging to the rental of other YMCA lodging facilities. Details on this option are available upon request.
