Hi Folks,

This is my first thread here at Blade Forums. I wanted to start off with a recently finished version of one of our flagship knives. This is the MCF, or the Martin Combat fighter. The steel is S30V, and handles are canvas micarta. I say "our" because, as many of you know, Martin Knives is family operation. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this forum, and hope you like the MCF!

Wow! That's a great looking knife... do you make the sheaths, also?

Welcome to the forums!

Thanks MrPurple! Very happy to be here.

Yes, the sheaths are ours also. My Brother, Eddie, is the primary leather guy in our shop. He is way out of my league. I typically stand around and say "wow, that's really cool". LOL

As they say in the hood, dat id da bin-nizz, it cool.

OR....That is a very nice knife, It looks like it would do any job that it was intended for.

Great modernization of the SOG bowie. I really like it. The handle looks very comfortable and the sheath is classic.

Charles

p.s. do you have a website?

Never mind - found your site.

Good looking stuff. Must be great working with family.

Charles

Doh! Forgot to put the website in my sig line. Thanks for pointing that out Charles, I'm on it. Thanks for the comments.

I can vouch for the Quality of Martin knives,I've owned a few of their bowies and Currently own one of their Reproductions of a Randall 8in. Dagger. It's an Excellent knife, better(In My Opinion) than Randall's Mod 2,Cheaper price wise,& the fit and finish is Damn Good too.

Hank, you should put a link to your website in your profile and in your signature. There are some nice knives to be found there.

Hank, Welcome I have several of your knives. I can't wait on the mcf and msf I ordered. How is Eddie? How about Newton?

Buddy S. I totally agree with you, I love my randalls, but falling in love with martins. Fit and finish second to none. Leather work top notch. Price is fair.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Eddie and Newt are great. Grinding away. The knife in my avataar is our Special Fighter with antique ivory micarta handles and saw teeth added. We did it "old school" with pinned handle and extended tang. Link has been added to sig. Sorry for being sloppy on that, I'm just happy to be here. Thanks again guys.

Please take this as the compliment it's meant to be - you make the "Randall" knife I wouldn't mind taking to the woods. It's the knife for those who appreciate the design and function of a Randall knife but actually want to use it.

I'm not meaning that the Randall's can't be used, just that with the price they fetch, who would. (I'm always over explaining my comments on the web because it's easy to misinterpret what I meant).

Charles

CSheperd, thank you. I completely agree with your point of view. Our goal is to make a knife that can be used and if needed, abused without fear your are destroying the kids college fund. Not that we don't have our fair share of collectors, but it is really cool when folks tell us how they use our knives as the tools they were originally intended to be. One of our favorite mottos is "Tools, not Toys."

I recently bought a Solingen Randall 14 stainless. Love it, one of my "grail" knives, but you will not see it on my hip the next time I'm in the woods, as it would be so tough to watch its value fall by using it. Instead, my crutch tip survival, we made, will go with me. I can use it all I want and not be hung up on the potential depreciation factor. Thanks for the kind words.

Welcome to BF! I've been watching your work for a while now. I first saw your knives a while back on Treeman's web site. VERY nice! Almost had my hands on one on ebay, but got sniped at the last minute. Maybe soon though. Hope to see you posting here frequently!
