Will his words ever become outdated?

Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.

---Martin Luther King, Jr.

Very very insightful words he had:

"Darkness cannot run out darkness, only light can do that; Hate cannot run out hate, only love can do that." (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.)

"In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.)

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.)

"Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men." (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.)

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.)

He was always one of my heroes, and sometimes it seems to me that folks forget how endlessly relevant his words and ideas are. I was lucky enough this weekend to hear his famous 'I Have a Dream' speech twice, and it never fails to move me. It's such a pity that people just don't seem to write that eloquently anymore, nor use such beautiful language when addressing the public.
My favorite quote from that speech follows. It's always encapsulated the aims of the civil rights movement for me, or at least as neatly as one sentence can.

I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. - Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.

James

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Please, it is Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior.

Don't strip him of the title that he, himself, thought was most important and which tells us what drove him to do the things he did.

The assasanation of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. robbed this nation of a voice of sanity. His contributions to America are great. We could use another MLK Jr. today.
