I've just notice the Martindale line of machetes/knives and have no experience with them. Their Paratrooper model caught my eye especially:

Looks like it's got about a 10" blade and 15" overall. ~.177 thickness.

Does anyone have any experience with that blade type? How does it fair on chopping/batoning? Looks like it could make a fun woods knife.

Thanks much-

I like it. Nice price too...Going into the bookmark folder with way to many links to begin with.

Solid enough. My cousin uses them on the farm for all sorts. I think the knife design is betrayed by their softness. My cousins don't seem to mind, they just drag them back to a rough sharp.

I'd rather use my #2. That said, I'm wanting to have a go with the the second one down here. At only a couple of inches longer than the Paratroop knife I think the design is much better. I've a hunch that if I thinned the edge out a bit it might be what pushes my #2 into retirement.

As soon as I saw it I thought of the kabar cutlass machete.

The kabar is probably much heavier. I like the design a lot, I am debating between this and the large kabar bowie for my next blade.
