Hey folks,

I'm not exactly a frequent flyer in the Spydie forum, but I did do a quick search before posting so please don't rip my head off if this has already come up, but why I wonder aren't we seeing more FRCP?

I have a Manix 2 LW and absolutely love it. The translucent blue seems to be a very popular feature, so I just wonder why we're not seeing more of it.

I'd love to have a Manix 2, a Native 5 and a Delica in every color of the translucent rainbow. Thus far, I've never bothered to collect the different variants of any knife model, but I'd absolutely have an FRCP collection if they were available.

Pics or it didn't happen right? Here's a quick photo of my Manix when it accompanied me to the ER after I got bit at the sharpening bench.

Hi T.L.E,

We don't "rip off heads here" ;)

We're always using different hi-tech materials, usually where they are developed. FRCP is a local US vendor and not all makers can get or work with all materials. I will pass on your request.

Hey Sal,

Thanks a lot. If we're taking requests I'd love a Manix 2 LW in Emerald FRCP (if it exists) and something that will take a nice patina. Perhaps 52100?

That sounds like it'd be a great looking knife. I'd be on board for one.

I have been hoping for more translucent colors ever since the M2LW was released...

Hoping we see some more options, soon.

I was thinking we would see color options like the Delica and Enduras, but maybe we'll get some LW sprint runs with translucent colors options? Is the LW even being considered for sprints?

The Native 5 LW was a forum sprint. It didn't sell well if I recall correctly. I don't think it was due to being a LW though, just an unpopular color choice.

Just to clarify to avoid confusion the Native 5 LW is available as regular production models in black FRN (S35VN) & blue FRN (S110V). The 2015 Forum knife was maroon FRN (S90V) and that didn't sell particularly well. They ended up discounting it through the SFO and it recently sold out.

The Native LW's are excellent and very popular overall.

My statement was referencing the M2LW, and translucent colors... I should have been clearer.

(Reminds me of all the "FRN? or FRCP?" confusion)

It sounds like the Colorado knives will probably be the only ones to see FRCP, but even if we just get the Manix 2 and the Native 5 I'd be more than happy with it. Both are great knives.

This is probably just my brain playing tricks on me but I feel like I can tell the difference between FRN and FRCP. To me the FRCP feels more smooth and the FRN feels like it has a more matte finish. I prefer FRN or FRCP. Again they could be just the exact same and my mind is playing tricks on me.

There's definitely a textural difference between the two. Difficult to articulate, but they certainly don't feel the same in the hand. I wouldn't say I have a preference from a tactile standpoint.

I like the aesthetics of the FRCP better though, at least in the blue example we've seen.

In my hand the FRCP feels a bit like slick hard plastic. Whereas, FRN feels a bit softer and warmer. But that is me. There is a tactile difference that is hard to define. I like the looks of the translucent FRCP, however.

Not just you Doc, I feel the same way. I've bent an FRN scale to the point where the ends met, it just sprung back to flat when I let go. OTOH the FRCP handle on my Manix 2 Lightweight makes strange crackly noises if grip it too hard. Have to wonder how it would react to real stress. Plus the translucent handle makes it look like a toy and makes me think it should carry a Mattel logo, rather than Spyderco's.
