This will be my first time going! What should I expect? Will there be production folders for sale?

Last year, one of the owners from Great Eastern Cutlery was there, he said either him or his wife will be there this weekend, with his own knives for sale, and some offerings from Queen, which he and his father acquired last year. He has knives which run the gamut, from slipjoints to a one piece Chris Reeve knife. The Buck knife club is represented, as well as a few custom makers there. The majority of the show is old timey knives, like slipjoints, from antique to modern, and military surplus/vintage fixed blades. One of our members will be set up there, and he has a good selection of recent tactical/survival production folders and fixed blades (quality name brands). It is a small show, but worth heading out to, as I have found some hard to find knives, and gotten some good deals. I hope to do some trading there, but I am focusing on old slipjoints at the show, and seeing friends. I always have a good time and come away with some goodies.

I'm not as familiar with the area as I'd like to be. There is a used book store across the street I will be stopping at after the show. The show is easy to get to from I70. I always make a day of it, and hit Washington Monument sp on the way home, stop off in Frederick etc.

They will be open in the afternoon Friday, from noon to 6pm, and on Saturday from 8 am to 4pm.

Look for the big guy with the Grizzly Adams type beard and Carhartt or Gossman Knives hat.

I didn't get home Saturday morning until about 3am. Got up late, didn't get to the show until about 230pm. Everyone was packing up to go home, and I got a few deals, but it was really dead. A shame, because I've always enjoyed heading out there. I'll go next year, but won't expect much.

I was there early Saturday and it was dead then, too, although having never attended this show before, I didn't know what to expect. Most of the people walking around were sellers, and most that I talked to were very nice people. Bad first impression, though, when the man at the first table where I stopped, a man many years my senior, asked about the Pittsburgh Pirates ball cap I was wearing and then made a childish comment about his dog and a Terrible Towel. Go ahead, offend one of the few potential customers in the place. Not real bright, as it is no way to get him to take his wallet out at your table, especially when people are not stacked even one deep at your table. I bought some wood for scales from another dealer so the trip wasn't a total waste of time. I doubt I'll drive 80 miles for it again next year.

Truthfully, I go because I make a day out of it. Hiking at Washington Monument SP, which I didn't get to do this time, and the beautiful countryside.
