A cool GT'er told me to post this here as you guys/gals are more knowledgable about edged weapons so here goes....

I found this sword at a yard sale and I can not find anything concrete on it. My hope is that you guys can shed some light on it. Is it real, old, worth anything more than 10 bucks? It measures 3ft long with sheath and 2'10" unsheathed. I have not tried to polish it up yet. Thanks for any help.

well not sure what it is but it is not scrap thats for sure and yeah worth more then 10 bucks if you paid any thing under 100 bucks for it i think you
got a deal

also DO NOT POLISH IT lightly coat it in oil but dont try to shine it up just take a cloth to it or you might risk damaging it

It's a Knight's Templar officer's sword. Those are Templar symbols, and the white handle indicates that it belonged to a Commandery officer.

Masonic sword or scrap?

Yes. :D

Sorry, it's not actually scrap I guess some people do collect fraternal swords...and beanie babies... dang there I go again.

It's actually worth a little bit to collectors, so it's not scrap, just not much of a sword (or at least my taste in swords) in my opinion.

Feeling a bit silly today apparently...

Thank you guys so much! BTW I paid $10 bucks so I guess someone will offer me a profit for it.... maybe lol Thanks again guys TTYL

I found a man from 1903 named Jas. A. McDonald he was a member of lodge 362, Lodge name Maple leaf, where held Tara (Ontario) He is listed in the book in which I found him as a secretary. I am not sure of the internal power structure of the lodges and do not know if sec's got swords ... then again he may have been promoted. I contacted the head of the masonic organization in Ontario but yet to have heard back.
