Massachusetts Knife Laws

I have heard that the legal length for a knife in Massachusetts is 3". I have looked through some legal documents online trying to find where this is actually stated, and I have found nothing that indicates 3" is the limit. I was just wondering if anyone has any link to any document that actually states this legal limit.

Another question I have regards carrying a knife for hunting or outdoor sporting reasons. IF the legal length in Massachusetts is 3", is there anything that would allow someone actively participating in hunting/camping/hiking/rafting/etc to carry a larger knife?

Thanks to anyone who can help me figure this out.

Check out the "Sticky" that Shootist16 has put at the top of this Forum. But check out your local jurisdictions as well as the state laws.

Mass. doesn't have a statewide length limit, except with switchblades, daggers, etc. Many towns like Boston have more restrictive laws.

Wow, thanks for the replies. Here I have been for years just assuming it was 3". This really opens up a lot of new possibilities... thanks!
