Massachusetts Knife Laws?

I pretty sure I know the basic's and I'm looking for a recommendation for a knife. Something that I can carry without having to worry about being illegal (not counting on airlines).

From what I have heard I’ve always been told that people living in MA can't have a knife that flips out with a flick of your wrist (butterfly, stiletto.. etc) and it has to be under a 3" blade. Also no dirks or daggers (double sided blades). At least that’s what I have always been told.

Is these pretty much the laws for MA? Anything I’m missing?

Can anyone recommend a good knife?

i just read through the ma law, and it is veeeerry specific. 3" blade is not accurate, blade must actually not exceed 2.5 inches. and even the emerson wave is illegal.

and dagger does not necessarily mean double edged, although that is what is generally thought. but it doesnt matter, since both are prohibited.

autos over 1.5 inches are prohibited.

anything larger that is being transported must not be within reach of anyone in the car.

larger knives are only allowed when hunting/fishing or going to or from the activity.

i thought ca was bad, you have it tough in mass.

how about an sak?

You think knife laws are bad take a look at the guns laws :jerkit:

I already have a SAK but its pretty small. Largest blade is 2in. But I would never consider it for protection.

So basicly I cann't legally get a 3" blade?
Are you sure its 1.5 inch in the law?

1.5 for autos, according to the section i read.

and im sure you could get a larger blade (2.5+), but carrying it is risky.
