I just received the Ayoob today what a pleasant suprise waiting for you when you get home from work. The knife is in my opinion is perfectly designed for a defence forder with either grip position the knife lines up symmetrically in your hand. The lockup is rocksolid, wonderfully put together, overall a aesthetically pleasing knife. I have one question can you adjust the blade tension on this model and if you can how much of a turn should you go from the tight position?

Yes, you can adjust the blade tension, but I wouldn't do it, as I believe that Spyderco might have put a drop of Loc-Tite on the threads, and by turning the screw, it'll break the loc-Tite loose. Rather than mess with the pivot screw, lube it up well, and just "work" the blade open & closed for awhile, and it'll loosen-up alittle and smooth-out pretty nicely...Mine did.:).

ive decided to pick on up over at knifeworks. but im a little worried about the shape . i dont know if ill like it or not. i would appriciate it if someone could get me a pic holding it. thanks:D

It also works nicely if you move your grip just a little further back. Has a real solid grip in that position.

I like that picture

I want to buy one, but with the $AU it gets expensive buying all these knives... definitely on the list though

If you really want one of these SMKW have them for 50$. Thats where I bought mine. I was holding off because I always want something else! but at this price I couldn't pass it up.

Thanks for the picture Pahl...appreciate it....

This is a really under-rated knife IMO.
I sincerely believe if people went out to a knife store and just picked one up, opened it and just felt the way it sits and works with the hand, this folder would be as big a success story as the AFCK(or similar folders that stand the test of time).

The Ayoob is one of those 10%er type knives in my collection that will never get traded, sold or given away.

Good news: I just received one the other day from SMKW. I didn't think I would like it. Kinda bought it out of curiosity. I was wrong, it's awesome.

Bad news: It's a birthday present for my brother. I'll be shipping it in a few days.

Good news: It's on my "to buy" list.

Is it only me or do others also see a "woodpecker"?

(Not a knock on the knife--I have one and like it too).

the newer versions have the matte finish, email ssknives@swbell.net he's selling the newest version PE for $68 shipped, have done lots of business with this guy super stand up guy, and excellent communcation.

ive heard both good and bad about smokey mountain, enough to make me think twice about dealing with them, do a search.

good luck

Yeah at $50 I couldn't pass on it either. Gawd I hope
