When my first Crux arrived I knew I'd found it: the "Sebenza killer" knife enthusiasts have been looking for by way of knocking the Reeve cash cow off its milking stand.
Both the Seb and WE-proeuced Crux use CPM S35V steel for blade stock, and both are Ti frame locks. Whereas the Seb relies on its infamous thumb stud, the Crux is a flipper. In my view, the more ergonomic design of the Crux and its smaller package (compared to a large Seb), combined with its eye-poppingly-low price of $125, made the Crux the clear winner between the two.
But after flipping the Crux several times, it stopped opening completely and consistently. So, I exchanged it for another one, only to observe the same basic failure. What good is a flipless flipper? So, back it went to Massdrop.
