Recently, our friend masse suggested adding a pocket clip a la the BM31 to Tachyon. He sent me this picture of his first try.

Is he using the single latch screw in the middle, or did he drill two smaller holes on the outside? I think it is a great idea.

Allthough I did make the suggestion, I cannot take credit for that knife or picture, as i have never seen them. That deffinately looks like a good first try though!

I did on the other hand ask Mr. Turber about the idea and he said that they have been discussing it for quite some time but need the latch to be easily removable with no sign that it was ever there after removal. Keep your fingers crossed, maybe will see the real thing soon!!

What i had in mind was a unique shape for the top of the clip so that it would be held in by both of the bottom two slab screws. Since the screws are almost parallel the clip could be made very narrow to cut down on bulkyness.

Cool, and yes a clip is in the pipeline. Not sure when but I am looking at 3 designs I have. I will try and convert them into .jpg for all to see. One is too cool and probably to hard to make but you guys will love it when you see it.

Mike, you the man! I should have known better than to suggest something for such a knife, you guys have of course already thought of everything!! Looking forward to seeing those designs...

Opps. My mistake. I got my names and my forum names mixed up. Sorry.

You know, when I posted that I sort of had this feeling that something was wrong...

Hey Mike,
What if ya mill a tiny shallow slot and place a lean Ti clip in there as well as having it secured by the latch screw. Kinda the way Terzuolas did on the plain ATCF. He milled out the tiniest slot and it's amted perfectly with the top part of the clip and held in with just one screw. What keeps it from loosening or swiveling at all is that it fits into the milled area so perfectly. I don't know if I've explained that so well but take a look at a plain ATCF. I think that's a cool idea adding a clip, making it removeable should the owner choose to go clipless and go with a sheath. Cool first try !.....RDT

The idea I had was to mill a slot out near the latch on all four handles so the asthetics are kept uniform. Then the user could actually chose to have up to four clips on the knife at one time. Each clip would be very thin.

Wow. Tachyon sounds better and better.

I'm gonna have to pick one up, I just dont like the price. Plus the increase too:(

Maybe someone will have a used one down the road here for sale...

Hmmm ?, very interesting ! Sounds like a good plan and it will give the user different options dependant on left or right hand preferences and prefered opening method preferences. Cool !.....RDT

Thanks for the picture Chuck.., and cool idea Mike. Yeah the whole thing got sort of mixed up I guess.., cause Masse was the one that wanted to know if a 3-screw-pocket clip would work on a .50 caliber Desert Eagle without hindering the magazine well. <~~ teasing!

Mike (as in "Mad Scientist" Mike).., have you carried the Tachyon that way.., for a day or so...? Just wondered how it carried.

No Just around the house for a while, I wasn't secure enough in it to carry it all day, and screw I had was a touch too long. I noramlly carry my edc bali in one of clay's neck sheaths. But while I had it in the pocket it carried fine and was as flat aas my axis afck or military, which are my normal left and right side front pocket carries

And yes if you are wondering my "normal" loadout consists of an Axis afck in the left front pocket, spydie mil or crkt mini urban shark in my front right and my 42s (or 47 or 42as, or other) behind my hip on around my neck depending on what I am wearing. and also a bucktool in a cargo pocket or lab coat pocket

Mike

Thanks Mike...appreciate the reponse!

Here is my contribution :)
First off, don't laugh at the poor quality of my design... I threw it togeather in about 5 minutes in MS paint, yuck!

Basicly, the main idea is to have part of the clip fold down at the end of the handle to keep the clip from rotating. This way you wouldn't have to modify your handles at all! :)
All you would need is a longer screw, and the metal clip! Cheap, easy, and it will work!

I hope you get the idea :)

It's a good drawing and it clearly shows what you're thinking.

My real concern here is that the screw that holds Tachyon's latch is tiny. I question if that screw is strong enough to hold a pocket clip.

Ah... good point. Seeing how I don't have a Tachyon yet, I don't know the size of the screw. I am going to try and get one buy the end of next week... but that might be a chalange by the sound of it.

If you haven't looked yet, you can see some good, close-up pictures of a disassembled Tachyon on my website. Off hand, I don't know what the screw size is. It's way smaller than #4, though, maybe #2. My screw-sizer thing doesn't go down that far. It may be a metric.
