Massive wildfire headed my way...

There is a big wildfire literally down the street headed this way. It doesn't look good. Trying to evacuate all the animals and stuff. I've never seen it this bad, so close to home. I have to say I'm pretty scared. The lumber store down the road is completely destroyed.

Thanks for the good thoughts.

I would send smoke, but you've probably got too much of that right now. Good thoughts, well wishes and prayers to the Gods for your safety!

It's looking like they have it contained a few blocks away, but it's supposed to be windy tonight. The 84Lumber seems to have survived with only lumber and fencing in the back being damaged. It's pretty wild and confusing up here right now.

You're in our thoughts, Ted. Please keep us posted as you can.

F***.

Remember, it's better to mourn the loss of property than mourn the loss of lives.

Get the **** out of there.

God speed and God bless you and your family.

My dad lives in Hayward. He's been keeping me up to date with about 6 calls a day. Hang in there Ted!

Better safe than sorry. Don't wait till it's too late to evacuate.
Good luck to you and all the living creatures in the line of fire!

Update

Property is OK so far. They were using the pond out back to fill the helicopter buckets to drop on the fire. It looks like a major war was fought just down the street. They are saying around 60 homes and businesses are destroyed, but at least the Harley Davidson guys got the bikes out as the building was burning. There are many conflicting reports right now and it's still burning. All the animals are evacuated form the property(wild horse, 2 cows, bobcat, 3 dogs, 3 cats, 40+ chickens).

Thanks for all the support.

I'm starting to see what they mean about, "lag" with this Forum; I didn't get any of this until this morning!

Wildfires and gasoline?

I wonder if there's a way to send some rain. We're in a drought, here in Texas, but I suddenly think you need it more than we do, right now!

That sounds scary. Don't wait too long to GTFO, since you've gotten the animals to safety.

A bunch of friends made it in before the hi-way was closed and helped load them and we took them to a friends place. The nice thing about knowing horse people is they all have trailers and big trucks. Most of them have a fair amount of property also. They also go way out of their way to help when disaster strikes.

We were stuffing 25 chickens in a large dog crate, just to get them out. One of the cows stepped on my Mom's toe and broke it. but other than that everyone and everything made it out OK. There are still some gas fires(not sure why they are having trouble tuning off the gas) in some of the destroyed neighborhoods and they are still hosing down hot spots, but the worst looks to be over. There is one neighborhood about 1/4 mile away that has ONE house surviving. All the rest were burned. Amazing when you see it.

Here's a slideshow showing some of the damage.

Glad you and yours are okay Ted and ~~Smoke~~ & ~~Song~~ for y'alls continued safety and for all those that have lost so much!

I really, really, hate wildfires and especially the ignorant &$#@#%& SOB's that start them!    IMNSHO I think anyone that's been proven to have started a wildfire oughta be held over until the next one of any size and then staked down on a full cord of well seasoned tinder dry
hardwood within a 1/4 mile of its leading edge so they would experience the first hand effects of such a fire and be an example to other would be arsonists!
