I have a new production Master Hunter 3V. If I hold the knife in a relaxed grip (without squeezing), there is a noticeable lateral movement in the blade. If I grip the lower part of the handle (by the lanyard insert) and shake it side-to-side, I can hear the blade rattling in the handle.

I have never owned a Cold Steel with a Kraton handle. I am assuming this is not normal?

I’ve had dozens of master hunters both carbon v and 3V, and none had that issue. That’s unfortunate, and a definite return. Is this a Taiwan made 3V model?

Yes, it's a Taiwan-made 3V with the stonewashed finish.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will return it.

When you say rattle, do you mean like metal on metal, or the blade is slapping against the kraton? Either way it's not normal, but just curious. If it's a metal on metal sound, would have to think the tang is broken, or the lanyard tube is loose. If the blade is slapping against the kraton, no idea how that would happen, since it's molded onto the handle so should be tight.

Not a metallic rattle. It sounds as if the tang is slapping against the kraton handle.

I don't believe that the tang is molded into the handle. I think it's inserted and glued.
