I just scored one of these at my friendly local neighborhood sporting goods store and I was wondering if anyone had anything negative to say about it after using one.

Digging it so far, but the tip seems pretty thin, the way it tapers...

GEEEEE.....maybe you'd get a better response asking for all the POSITIVE things folks might say about it.

Nothing negative here. It's a great hunting & utility knife and the thinner profile is an amazing slicer.

I guess my only criticism would be that, if you hear "3/16" stock outdoor fixed blade in 3V" it will probably bring to mind something very different from what you get with the Master Hunter. Cold Steel has, at least with this model, chosen to run the 3V very hard and grind it quite thin with an aggressive distal taper.

It's a great camp knife and slicer that can stand up to light battoning and some tougher tasks, but it's definitely not a tough-as-nails survival knife that I'm going to use to chop up cinderblocks and hammer through nails.

Other than that, the cutting geometry is very good, surprisingly so for a short blade with a thick spine, the handle is comfortable, the guard isn't very intrusive and it holds a great edge.

That's why it's called a hunter ;)

Thanks Insipid.
The taper is one of my only real concerns, but so far, it hasn't been an issue.
