Well, of course looking for a new knife.
But what im wondering is Which knife will make a better belt knife. I like the classical look of the russell, but I'm a fan of carbon steel.
Also does anyone have experience with the cutting abilitys of these knives?
If so which one would you say has the lead.

And I've come down to these choices because im ordering in canada, and both of these knives are on a site I know and trust.
thanks everyone.

hi fonly.
I have a master hunter and love it.the carbon v is a great steel. It handles very well, the kraton gives a great grippy feel.it's not heavy at all and rides well on the belt.

that said,i haven't handeled any russell knives so i have no oponion on them.though i'm shure someone with experience with thees knives will chime in soon.

Ok, sounds good, Just I have and im sure you have also heard many bad thing about cold steel, but the master huter allways seems to be on peoples good list. I have a large skinner from russell, and that holds a great edge and is in the stainless steel version. also the russell armed forces(survival knife) is in the same stainless steel, so i know it will hold up well, but I know nothing about carbon V, except its like the 0176-c the becker has on their knives, and I own the Bk7 and thats A great knife too, soooo.......

You can get the Grohmann/D.H. Russell in carbon steel. They are also available with a full-flat grind and other handle materials. I know because I have been coveting one of their "Survival" knives.

I'd rate Carbon V higher than the carbon steel used in the Russell belt knife. I have both and the edge goes to Cold Steel.

Hey Fonly...

Yaa the Master Hunter is a Great knife..
Truthfully though I've used my Grohmanns more..

I like both knives though..Hard Choice as far as I'm concerned..
Haven't had any problems with the edge on my Stainless Grohmanns...

Well, I know what you mean. I just can't seem to be able to decide on which one. like I said the look of the russell gets the looks award, and not a bad steel, but then again I also like the look of the master hunter and again the steel is another good choice. So, I think ill bit the bullet and buy the master hunter in carbon V, after all I wont be able to get some camillius carbon V in a little bit and the grohmanns are going to be around for a while.
Also I've never tried Carbon V, so a master hunter will make a good addition.

Hey Fonly..

Yaa man,, you can't go wrong...
Go with the MH and then later get the Grohmann...

Try a local Scout shop..I found some Great deals there(Grohmann)..
