So, I'm about to pull the trigger and order a bk11. I have a bk2 and I think I want to get the bk11 to match. I figured if I hurried up and ordered it, I wouldn't get the newer model. It seems like the new laser etching is just a cheaper option than stamping the blades.

If I were to try stripping a new master series knife, how would the logo look?

What is everyone's opinion of it?

I think its gonna be alright, but I will say, I been trying to strip the coating on a similar blade, and lemme tell ya, it ain't been easy so far. The etching goes deep, and it should stand out pretty well.

All I've stripped is early production runs, and it looks like its stone washed. Checked with Ethan, and yeah, they are stone washed under the coating.

indeed, KaBar is stone washing blades after various machining/grindering to remove burrs and other artifacts. this is a GOOD thing. several hours of tumbling.

as for the logo, the word is out that if you do an acid etch BEFORE you strip the blade, you'll save the logo. or use etching agent to protect. google for info.
