Master Series - where to find?

I bought one of the 501 Master Series (Squire) and have been really impressed.

I know the line has been discontinued, but is there a website or some other source of information on the series (models, steel hardness, etc).

Also, I may want to get another one (not necessarily the same model)... any MS knife sale sightings/offerings would be appreciated. Thanks.

One place that has a couple types left is AG Russell. They cost a bit more than some discount companies used to charge, but they are below MSRP. They still show the Vanguard and the Buck Special with 6" blade.

For a folding knife you can get BG42 in the Custom Shop.

Thanks Jeff.

I was mostly looking for a folder, but I liked the looks of the Vanguard.

Stumbled on a photo of the 532 (on another website) with a mid-handle lock (Bucklock) that seems a departure from the ones located on the end of the handle. Would love to try one of these if I could find one to see if one-handed close is easier.

Longdon,
Try Paul Lentz in N. Carolina. He did have some master series knives available. He can be reached at 704 - 782 - 9221.

Thanks guys. I got a coupla leads to followup on, but the KnifeCenter is out. Clicking on "buy info" for any of the MS knives gets "unavailable".

I can always post on the Knives-WTB forum I guess.

Still would like to know more about that 532 Bucklock ... anyone have info/opinion on it? Couldn't have been that good a design if it's not used anymore, but it sure sounds like a nice knife.

I think the 532 was the most popular of the Master Series. It certainly sold out the fastest. I never was able to get any of them. I did get a 110MS and 501MS. The 110 was sold awhile back and I still have the 501.

There are a few threads on the 532 on the Buck forum that you can find if you want more information on them but I wish you luck in finding any 532MS for sale except on the secondary market.

Thanks for the info Dennis, tho I was hoping for an opportunity to buy one from you for the first time (got any Emerson La Griffe's? ... looking for one for my wife).

I'll check the archive threads for more on the 532.

..... OK I checked, so now I know what I'm up against

Some serious fans out there, and I find myself wanting one even tho I haven't a clue as to how they feel in my hand.

Maybe I'll have to "settle" for a Sebenza till the Y2K version of the 532 comes out?

Longden, I have one Le Griffe left. I sold my other one at the gun show in Ventura last weekend.

As for the 532s, you might check Buck's custom shop, (Pete's custom shoppe) I have heard that one might be able to get one there. I don't know, I haven't checked the site yet.

"Settle for a Sebenza"? The 532s were nice but they aren't even in the same county as the Sebenza, let alone the same ballpark.

Sebenzas are one of my best sellers. Hard to keep them in stock.

Dennis, you have email about the Le Griffe.

Nope, no 532's at Pete's yet, just the 110 (c'mon Buck ... Christmas is almost on us

)

My 501MS is my first Buck, something I've always promised myself to get (a BUCK knife). I was making light of the Benz only because I know it's a knife that can take the hit.

I agree with you ... but hey, sometimes in the ballpark only a dog with mustard/onions will do, but you gotta settle for ethnic food cuz that's all the choice there is ... bummer.

are the 532's going to be added to the custom shop? If so, does anyone know when?

Longdon,
I just checked with Paul Lentz and he has one 532 Master Series knife left. If you are the first to call him, you will get it.
Good Luck
Larry

Lifter/Dave,
Pete said in another thread not too long ago, that the 532 (and maybe a couple of other 500 series) would be part of the Custom Shoppe in 2000. I can't think of a better reason to welcome in the new year.

Thanks for the tip Larry. I'll give him a call first thing when the hour's decent. Also have some other possible deals in the works, so maybe between all these, I'll come up in the 532 club before too long.

Appreciate all your leads and suggestions.
