So yep, I got the new Ka-bar catalog in the mail today and it showed the machax as well as the bk 15 16 and 17 but what I really noticed is that besides the new knives, there was something strange I noticed...all of the beckers have a new white stamp and I'm wondering if they have done that...what about other things not easily noticed, like the finish....is it different or what? And on the 2 page Becker section it says:Becker Knife &tool designs then underneath on the left it says master series?
 
New Beckers will have laser etches and texture coats, texture coats are tougher, laser etches are cheaper, and they provide era ID.
 
Laser etches aren't necessarily cheaper. They don't impart any kind of stresses on the metal post-heat treat.

Master Series are designated for the designers under the Kabar umbrella. Basically, outside designers like Ethan, Mr. Benner, Mr. Johnson, and Mr. Dozier.

The new laser etching is GOLD actually, it just shows up as white in the catalog. Trust me, they look good.

Laser etching does take 3 processes out of the manufacturing process, but the investment of such a piece of equipment is a hefty investment. I for one, and personally glad to see it come.
