So I really didn't think I'd ever get my hands on one. I remember the ads on the back of the SOF magazine, LOL. I mean we are talking late 90's early 2000's. Well as fate would have it, one came along at the right price and with another knife in a "package" deal. I was doing some research about the quality, fit & finish etc, and now realized that the company was sold to BH. That said, I'm wondering if there is some way to make sure mine is one of the USA made? or the "real McCoy" so to speak, before the production went "off shore" Thanks & stay safe.

AFAIK marking the blade "USA" without the knife being made, it at least assembled, in the USA would be a gamble on the part of the manufacturer.

Not if that manufacturer is Chinese. ;)

Regardless, the knife looks legit. The hardware is correct and the laser etches are crisp and sharp. The pocket clip is correct. The edge bevels look nice and even. I don't think the OP has anything to worry about.

Thanks troops, and point taken on the "USA" on the blade, however it's sooo long ago, I wanted to make sure, and really it's more of a curiosity. Nowadays it nice to have made in USA!!

All the CQD's that have aluminum handles were made on the USA. Paragon Industries bought out all the ood parts, handles, blades, patterns, etc, and still has some CQD's and Point Man style knives. I picked up a Point Man at Blade.

Paragon Industries is producing some of the MOD knives but Blackhawk is the current manufacturer of the CQD and some others. I don't know where all of the Blackhawk knives are made but China seems to be the most likely location. I was fortunate to buy a grip of MOD knives from local retailer in Norfolk, VA back in the day.

I've owned a bunch of the MOD folders over the yrs. All should be marked 154cm and USA on the blade. Never cared much at all for the Taiwan made MOD's or facsimiles truth be told except for the fixed blade in AUS8a I have. I just off hand can't remember the name of the f.b. but the original was made I think in ats34 or it could have been 154cm like the folders. stay safe

PS I should mention that the folders were the Hornet and Tempest. EXCELLENT folders to be sure.

Well, it's got "USA" right on the blade - it MUST be legit. :)

My Hornet is legit and USA made - I bought it direct from MOD back in 2000. Insert gratuitous pic here:

Just out of curiosity, I did a quick Google search of some MOD knives, the one pictured and the Trident, both good looking blades with a bit of history included. Cheers

Hey troops, can anyone confirm that the Torx on the pocket clip a #5? or is it smaller? Thanks in advance.

I'd be careful. The CQD's used Spline drive screws. Looks kind of like a Torx, but a torx driver will strip them.

OK, THANK YOU, with my "old eyes" they look Torx, well I'm gonna take a hard pass on changing them over. Cheers
