Very oddly shaped. Not comfortable to my hands at all.

King Grinch,
The only MOD offering I have any personal experience with is the Duane Dieter CQD manual. From a fit and finish standpoint, I give the knife very high marks. I believe my observations are pretty much in keeping with what I've heard from most folks when I say that their F&F is very close, if not equal to that displayed by MicroTech, no easy accomplishment by any means. I also have to give MOD high marks for innovation on this particular model. The button lock with backup slide lock safety, as well as the auxiliary cutting blade are examples of features not found on too many other folders that I'm familiar with.

I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if the CQD is the model that fudo is referring to above. There's no denying that the handle on the full size CQD is large, but for my larger than average hands I get a very secure grip.

I have the hornet. It took a little bit of time to get comfortable with it. I like my Micro Tech's better

I had a couple of the auto's.I would say they are pretty close to Micro-tech quality. What gave MOD an edge was MT quality at a reasonable price.MOD'S felt comfortable to me for their size.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend MOD.However;Micro-tech has put out a line of knives on the market that are budget priced,so thats going to give MOD a run for their money. In fact I'm considering getting a Microtech LCC manual for my next prurchase.

I agree with all the above comments..
I think that they are equal to microtech in
quality, but they are a little more 'spensive
than MT. Also, the blade configurations really are for doing just about one thing, cutting and sticking. I personally would go with MT anyday.

The razorback model is a huge dissapointment to me. The only thing the knife is good for is stabbing. The knife is very dull out of box and a bitch to sharpen due to its super thick blade. They have better quality folders, especially autos. I own the Tempest auto, the action is superb and fits your hand real well. Has a very loud "twank" sound every time it fires. Fun to play with.

For awhile I was interested in the MOD Duane Dieter and Tempest. Played around with a friend's Dieter and was shocked at how heavy it was. Other than that, can't find fault with it. It's built like a tank (and weighs like one too) and fit and finish are on par with anything short of a true custom knife. I suppose it would have some real world defensive value - you could probably split a coconut with the knife in closed position

Personally I'd prefer the MicroTechs which i think offer more utility at a better value for the price. But, to be fair, it has to be said that MOD designs its knives with for a different purpose. Of course these are just my own (very subjective) opinions and I'm sure there are many fans of MOD out there.

No doubt MT must be giving the folks at MOD fits right now with their new pricing structure. How anybody can put out a knife like the LCC M/A for about $135 is one of the great mysteries of our time.

As Red has mentioned, the folks in MOD has a different mind set when it comes to designing their knives; Tactical. I know it's THE taboo word in knife-world but it's the only way i know how to put it in simple english.

The DD CQD is heavy, brute and no-nonsense type of folder....my kind of folder. The Fit and finish is second to MT but better than most. The ONLY reason i can find to sell mine is because i need it to fund for another knife. Even in worse case scenario when it doesn't sell......i'm off to the islands cracking coconuts with it's butt to raise fund!
