I made these for a prepper in TX. Both from Nicholson files and ground while hardened. They are nearly identical down to the weight and fit in sheath.

Nice. Only single-sided, I see. I thought all of your stuff came with at least two cutting edges?
 
A double edge would be weaker when it comes to hard use.
 
Besides, the customer liked it :)

They are cute thats no doubt.

Whats the HRC on these ? Did you re heat treated or just left at original hardness ?
 
I left them at original RC. A normal file still skates off the edge.
 
so what you are saying is they will shatter when dropped on stone too hard?

Files are too hard for knife use. At least temper it in an oven for an for our so.

I have tested these extensively and brutally. No problems.
