Hi,
Could anyone point me in the correct direction on Matchless buffing compounds for steels? I have emailed the company for info and apparently they don't have good customer service. I don't want to just randomly buy, because I am clueless on the subject. I want to buy at least 3 different bars - for 3 different finishes - satin, bright satin , and mirror finish. I prefer a grease based compound because I read they don't readily expire like dry compounds

What steel types are you sharpening?
Actually not using it to sharpen. I but vintage NOS straight razors and 99.9% of the time they have rust , because they are carbon steel. I have been doing it all by hand - its impossible to me to match the factory finish by hand sanding - even harder if the blade was finished with a satin or bright satin finish, because they are full hollow ground and the grind lines or scratch pattern run vertical from spine to edge.
