hello folks,

i'll be straigtforward, so you all see my position.

I am an experimentalist, always wanting to try out new stuff.

The situation asks that I make some very sharp small kitchenknives, like paring and boning knives ( we got about 100 chicken to slaugther, and sharpening ****** 440 blades all day isn't my idea of fun :D). I think talonite is a very good for this, and i wanna try it out.

Now here comes the problem: I talked with Tom Walz, real nice guy, but shipping the stuff to here and paying back there seems to be a problem. I had this problem before, and Ivan Campos solved it by sending me some slabs of kydex in a trade. Now i wanna do another trade, but this time for talonite, preferably the thin stuff (warped is O.K, as Rob Simmonich said it was easy to straigthen). Sizes don't really matter, as long as i can derive at least one paring knife.

What can i offer you?

Reindeer horn, Stag, micarta, G-10, 52100 in bars, i have a little piece of K190PM left, Lots of Azobé, thuya wood, petrified oak.. lots of other woods, don't hesitate to ask.

If anything (or more things) would interest you, E-mail me, and let's talk about it! I am even willing to trade in some of my knives, as long as i get some talonite.

Do i sounds despeate? Nah :D

greetz & thanks in advance, Bart.

well bart, i dont have any talanite but i have cash,LOL e-mail me about the thulya wood stag and reindeer. i might buy some

I've got some of the damn Nasty &*((*&^ ^&&%%Y&&*&HJUY^^%^^ stuff. I have a knife I've screwed up about 30 times and worn out enough belts to stretch to the top of Reddish Knob. There's plenty of the hard shiny S&(* to make a knife if you have a stack of diamond saws and about 10 years. Email me and you can have it for shipping!

Hey Bart,

What is Azobe? Like Laurence, I have no talonite, but I might be interested in some of your other materials for cash....What other woods do you have?

Azobé is vey hard and extremely dense wood (sinks like a brick in water), rather oily too. It is very straigh nerved and very mono-linear, so splitting it along with the grain is possible but very tough. It splinters easy when working and is a bitch to work with, but makes very nice and smooth handles, polishes very easy.
When polished it looks like a darkbrown wood with spots of lighter stuf (these are the grain ends).

Other names for this stuff is bongossi, ekki, and it looks a lot like bubinga, just darker and heavier.

The stuff I have is dried for about 20 years now, so the first layer of about 1 mm is waste.

Fur the rest I have buxus, thuya, masur birche... well, lots of woods. and reindeer horn and micarta and black G-10... well.. a lot. some neat steels too... 52100 bars and small plates of K190PM (powdersteel version of D-7)

Don't hesitate to mail me for an offer! I'll trow in a kilo of real belgian chocolat of your taste in for free on big deals!

Someone just sent me a private message but for some reason i cannot open it, probably because you need to be a paying member for that, and i can't pay in the USA soooo...

mailserver problems...

I sent mails to the people interested, waiting for a reply, but nothing comes. then i check some logs and saw that the mail server has not sent any mails for a week  :( ....

Sooo.. if any of the people interested in trading materials didn't got any reply, please mail, i'll resend it, if neccesairy a few hundred times !

Greetz, bart.

The talonite curse !

Seriously, everytime I seem to get a deal closed, something comes inbetween.. this guy need to pay of a bill, that guy has puterproblems...

Anyway, i have reindeer-horn scans, I also found a piece of ziricote and chakte-kok. And some pieces of stag. then add Thuya burl, azobé and loads of 52100. Even some 12C27 puuko blanks by a swedisch custom knifemaker.

I'm willing to sacrifice all that stuff, even add some money.. just some talonite please? Rob S, if you read this, please think this over????
