Materials for custom sheaths?????

I don't know if this is the proper place to post this but I figured what the heck.
I find that most custom sheaths that come with my knives don't quite work for me. Kydex makes drawing the knife to hard as it doesn't like to let go. And leather tends to wear out over time. So I decided to try and make my own sheaths. Perhaps out of a mixture of Cordura and fiberglass. I am in need of a source for obtaining materials to make my job easier. Materials such as stainless steel and anodized aluminum push pins or rivets. I find that kinfe making resources which sell the brass and steel rivets for attaching knife handles tend to be too thick and I don't wanna have to alter each one by hand. And industrial snap buttons among other things like large ammounts of un-cut Cordura. Any and all help would be appreciated here.

What part of the leather sheath wears out for you? Wood liners may help there.
