Materials for making scales

Hey guys I recently made a test scale for my Skyline out of some scrap wood and was planning on making a set for a Griptilian out of some zebra wood, but I also like the look of CTEC material, can anyone tel me how it was to work with and how well it holds up long term use. I recently moved, sold most of my woodworking equip. this junk scale was just a drill and sandpaper job, so if the CTEC requires major work I may pass.
