Matriarch in G-10? or stainless

I seriously doubt it. The Civilian already exists. The Civi and Matriarch don't see high levels of production or sales. The demand doesn't exist for another SKU.

Also, unlike other spydies, the Civilian/matriarch series is designed as an LPD(life preservation device).;)

BT, thanks, disregard my question on the other thread. I agree the Matriarch is designed as a smaller, low cost defensive blade very similar to the Civvie. I can see why one would like one in better materials since it is legal more places due to blade length. However, I am 99.5% sure it will never happen.

But an extra-large sized Harpy...Now THERE's a utility knife with attitude! Still stirring the pot to keep this idea alive...

Yes, good idea! The Matriarch has the right size, but It's not much of an utility knife! :)

Just wanted to point out that the Matriarch has its own merits, besides being a lower cost option to a Civilian. For one thing, its lighter weight allows it to be carried cliped just about anywhere, no matter how you're dressed. Also, the reversible clip makes it fully ambidextrous, an important feature not only to southpaws but also to anyone who for whatever reason would like to have a defensive folder easily accessible to the left hand.
In fact, when I chose a Matriarch over the Civilian, cost was the least important of factors (though by no means irrelevant).

So you should be able to switch from one to the other with ease!

When it comes to carrying, I'd rather stick with one or the other, for one reason: clip placement.
The Civilian is a tip down carry folder; the Matriarch, tip up. While either can be drawn easily with the right technique, the required movements are completely different. If you keep switching from one to the other, chances are you will mess up your draw if you ever have to do so under stress.

Good point!! I forgot about that fact!! my bad!

I would have one of each if I could carry both. Reason I got the Matriarch is because it is 3 7/8" rather than 4 1/8" while 1/4" is not much it is also a small price to pay to stay within the letter of the law. I like the FRN fine, especially since it keeps cost down. I also like the reversible clip. I just wish the curved point was a little longer like on the Civvie.

I carry my Civilian or Matriarch in a neck sheath, so tip up or down does not matter. The Matriarch is much lighter, so more suitable for neck wear, even though my carry Civvie is one of the very first G-10s with no stainless steel liner, and lighter than most. A stainless steel Matriarch would cancel out the weight advantage and make for a very slippery defensive piece - not a good idea. Seems like there are a number of us still clamoring for the larger Harpy - now there's a great idea!
