For my next Spyderco I am looking at these two folders. Is it really worth paying the extra for the Civilian?

Cheers!

Matriarchs are no longer LEO. No more restrictions, only discretion.

The Civilian is worth the extra money. It is also produced in lower numbers, so it's a littel harder to get and might move a little easier if you decide to sell it.

Where do you get your spydies from?

Wouldn't like to be caught with a civilian here in Blighty. Think the 'I need it for work' reason might bee stretched a little too far!

For my money, I'd get the Civilian. I have had the metal clips on 3 different FRN (nylon) handled spydies twist around during back-pocket carry (the metal is fine, but the softer nylon "gives" when the pocket clip snags on stuff, thus causing the clip to rotate in it's notch). This list includes a Matriarch, Merlin, and a Rescue. All are great knives, but I'm done with FRN. G-10 and slick-stainless seem to be all that I can count on now. The G-10 Civilian will serve you well.

I get my Spidies from a local gun shop and the internet. Yes it goes without saying I am a mushroom havester and need it for work...
