Where can i see a Spydie Matriarch?

Awhile back I believe Sal said that there was only one Matriarch prototype and it was currently in South Africa, so a picture might be out of the question right now. On the other hand, I'd really like to see one too.

I have just returned from RAMROD, which is the local distributer for Spyderco in South Africa. AND I HAVE HELD THE MATRIARCH IN MY HAND THIS MORNING!!!!

This is a GREAT knife! As soon as it is available, I will be getting myself one.

We have a digital camera in our department at work. I can maybe take a picture of the knife in Ramrod's possession and post it here, or EMAIL it to fellow forumites and fellow Spydernuts...

Excuse my ignorance, but what is this Matriarch? I'm all hyped up about it, yet I have no idea what it is! Y'all ever notice the mob effect with knives?

I think of it as a feeding frenzy. Only true knife nuts are involved in this particular activity!

Until you see one, just think of the Matriarch as a small Civilian - that's pretty close.
 
Folks -- in the 2nd BF Spyderco thread Sal just confirmed that 500 BF Matriarchs (gray color) will be available to us forumites!
 
KenN, I will ask them about your order request.

I am currently EXTREMELY tied up at work (we are preparing for field trials), and will only be able to visit RAMROD again next week.

Anyway, I'll get the Matriarch pics up as soon as humanly possible...

CPR, you might think of the Matriarch as a smaller version of the Civilian, as rightly pointed out by Bob, but with an edge shaped more to the lines of the Cricket (cutting side). It does not have the pronounced sickle shape of the Civilian. The purpose of the Civilian and the Matriarch can be seen to be the same.

KenN, sorry but RAMROD say that they WILL NOT sell directly to the public. I suppose that you could contact a store in South Africa to overcome the problem of sourcing one of the knives, or EMAIL me at heynsv@liw.denel.co.za to discuss the subject further...

I still need to get to RAMROD for a photo of the prototype Matriarch in their possession. However, you can have a look at the Matriarch (sorry - it's the CIVILIAN, NOT the MATRIARCH!!!) photo given by Titan in the "BladeForums Second Special Edition Knife"-thread in the meantime...

My friends, just saw the picture in the other thread and I really want one, too, even not loving the zytel handles.
If anyone finds a store in South africa that takes VISA, let me know, please.
